So we ended up ditching Mt. Fuji since the forecast promised 200mm rain, strong wind and complimentary snow at the summit. Instead we found some cheap tickets to Okinawa and a Couchsurfing host (Brice from the U.S.) who was willing to take us in! Two days of snorkling and sun ensued before we headed back to mainland Japan.
Returning to Kobe, we then took a train to Kakogawa, just outside Himeji and stayed with another Couchsurfing hostess (D’Vonne) for two nights. During the day we became all touristy and had a look at Himeji Castle before we took a buss to the outskirts of the city and went for a short hike up Mt. Shosha. We’re currently back in Osaka for a night before going to Tokyo tomorrow!
